Description
Rose Marian Jefferson was born in Alexandria, Louisiana. She grew up in Houston Texas, later married and moved to San Francisco, California. They eventually transferred with her husband’s company to Brevard County where they now reside in Melbourne Florida She paints portraits and figures in the mediums of oil, acrylic and watercolor. She also enjoys creating mixed media works of art. Her artwork has been exhibited throughout the country, primarily at invitational and juried shows in Florida and Georgia.
Rose states: I’m inspired by the magnificence of the human figure , activities of groups of people or just one person around me. I continue to study art and as I have become older, it has given me peace and a deeper understanding of the world around me. Currently I am focusing on creating storytelling folk art from my life experiences , including childhood memories . Example, summer visits with my Grandfather to his countryside home in Louisiana are still very vivid. I’m using my imagination to create works around activities, the stories he would tell and the natural beauty of the countryside as I remember it. Through Art the stories will continue on…. just the beginning.
