Biography
Whitney Coy was born, raised, and still resides in Melbourne, FL. At an early age Whitney began developing her passion for self expression through her artwork. Her journey began with acrylic paint and has developed over several mediums since then. When Whitney was in grade school, her mother scraped together enough money to set up a stained glass studio in their garage. Whitney learned firsthand how to use materials to transform her feelings into pieces of art. She continues to make mosaic and stained glass pieces occasionally, but focuses most of her energy onto canvas.
As a metal fabricators daughter, Whitney has always had an admiring eye for the shiny intricacies in the world. Her artwork combines her love for color with the whimsical attribute of light hitting a shiny metal surface. Each piece of art has a depth which demands attention upon walking past as light reflects off the crevices of the canvas and radiates back at the viewer. It is through the eyes of her four children that Whitney is currently rediscovering an appreciation for all the small complexities that life has to offer. Each day her children reveal fresh inspiration giving her the opportunity to feel a renewed childlike wonder towards the world around her.
