Artist Statement: I am incredibly passionate about nature, conservation and the protection of our planet. For me, life is about the journey and adventure of finding new ways to feed my soul. Being out in a forest, hiking down a path, paddling down a river...is where I am my happiest; where my body and mind feel like they can soar. The Japanese have a name for it; yugen: “a profound, mysterious sense of the beauty of the universe”. I don't solely head out with my camera just to go shoot photographs...I instead embark on adventures out in nature because it roots my spirit and I will bring my camera along in hopes I might capture some of the wonder. I love trying to tell visual stories with the images I capture. My camera is an extension of me; there to attempt to capture that sharp breath intake moment or gasp of wonder when I see something for the first time. When I’m not behind my camera, you’ll find me camping, hiking, or planning my next adventure. Nature is more than just my canvas, it’s where I feel the most alive.
Many of us get lost in the crazy rush and tumble of life that we forget we have such amazing beauty all around us. With my photographs, I hope to evoke a sense of wonder and stir your own feeling of need to get lost in the outdoors.
Artist Biography: I’m Jennifer Cenker, a self-taught landscape photographer who has lived on the Space Coast of Florida for the past 28 years. I am also a gallery artist at Harbor City Art Gallery near the Eau Gallie Arts District. I am proud to share that my photography has won spots in the 2023 and 2024 Indian River Lagoon National Estuary Program Calendar and been used by Space.com and Audubon Florida.
