Description

June Long-Schuman is an award-winning fine artist and art instructor who has shown her work on Long Island, Newport Rhode Island and recently in Melbourne Florida.

After graduating from Pratt Institute with a BFA in Fine Art, June studied printmaking and has had numerous award-winning shows featuring her monoprints. For the past 24 years she has focused on plein air painting in oils - capturing a moment in time and communing with Nature. “'In nature we find our true power and our energy blends with the energy of the eternal universe”.

After the tragedy of September 2001 - June was compelled to paint a mural that would help to comfort those who lost loved ones and send the message of faith, love and hope. 'Soaring Spirits at Ground Zero' is a tribute to those who lost loved ones. The 5 foot by 6 foot painting was recently donated (August 2020) to the Islip Fire Fighters Museum in Islip, Long Island, NY and has become part of their permanent collection. Recently relocated to Melbourne, Florida June continues to paint in oils and acrylics inspired by Florida’s lush landscapes and wildlife.
