Biography

Linda began her art career as a retail visual merchandiser, then as a graphic artist, and is owner of Bright Ideas Studio, established solely by her in 1984. After desktop publishing became popular and people began doing their own graphic design, she kept the business afloat by diversifying into fiber arts, utilizing her art, sewing and fabric manipulation training and talents to teach and create textile-based works including art quilts, soft-sculptured art dolls, wearable art and accessories.

Recently Linda has been focusing on textile surface design. Her art is spontaneous rather than premeditated, finding inspiration in a piece of hand-dyed fabric and then painting, piecing and stitching it into a work of art. She often incorporates ephemera and repurposed materials into the works as well.

Linda is a long-time member of the Brevard Cultural Alliance and taught for several years with their Artist Residency Programs. She is also a member of Seams Unique Fiber Artists, Studios of Cocoa Beach, Ruth Funk Center for Textile Arts, Studio Art Quilt Associates (SAQA) and Surface Design Association (SDA). Her works have won several galleries awards locally, and also been published nationally in Soft Dolls & Animals and Art Doll Quarterly magazines. Linda lives in Cocoa Beach with her husband, award-winning photojournalist Malcolm Denemark. They have two adult children and two adorable grandchildren.
