Description

Founded in 1968, BAC’s Arts program was guided by the principle that art is fundamental to human expression and that all people are capable of creative expression regardless of their artistic ability.

BAC’s on-site art studio is home to approximately 100 artists with disabilities from their Adult Day Training program. Facilitated by professional artists, their new 1,100 square foot space, provides artistic support and fosters creativity in a variety of media including clay, fused glass, drawing, watercolor, acrylic painting, bead work for jewelry, and more. Artwork is currently exhibited annually at the Suntree Library, Brevard County Health Department in Viera, and WFIT’s Lobby, plus work is also available for sale at BAC’s Rockledge Headquarters, the Downtown Art Gallery in Titusville, and presented at local art fairs throughout the county. As a non-profit organization, all sales of artwork directly support the artist and BAC, which utilizes the proceeds to purchase further materials and to facilitate the program.

In addition to BAC’s on-site participant program, BAC also provides an inclusive community program for ages six and above. Visiting artists teach dance, music, painting, sculpting, drumming, and/or acting to Exceptional Student Education elementary and high school students from Brevard Public and Private Schools. This interactive arts education is then brought to life at annual events such as BAC’s Performing Arts Showcase, their Color in Motion Arts Festival at Brevard Zoo and their Holiday Greeting Card Contest.
