Judy began drawing and painting in grade school and has continued throughout her life. As with other people her painting career was interrupted by children, family and life. Her enthusiasm for art was rekindled when she took an oil painting class with the late great Bill Alexander. She was so excited by her paintings from his class that she began painting anew. Fortunately, she wanted to learn more and was interested in many other mediums including watercolor, airbrush, illustration, and abstract art. Every genre she tried she did well at. Her airbrush work has won national acclaim, her illustrations won contests, and her watercolors have won many shows.
Judy was introduced to Terry Madden art thanks to her husband. While watching one of Terry’s classes on the local PBS channel it was announced that Terry would be teaching a class in Orlando Florida and Judy signed up immediately. The rest, as they say is history. Judy took many classes with Terry and was one of the first of his Terry Madden certified instructors. More recently Judy has studied with Frits Van Eeden which has opened up the world of abstract painting to her. She has adapted the styles of both Frits and Terry to create her own style of painting which she actively teaches in specialized classes.
Judy has continued to teach the Terry Madden style over the years to many students, many of which keep coming back for more. She also has adapted the Terry style to incorporate new ideas and techniques which only enhances the Terry Madden painting technique and style. Judy’s paintings include many Florida scenes including beautiful flowers, sea life, and interesting buildings. Her use of vivid, bright colors as well as various techniques learned in other genre has helped make her paintings stand out. Judy teaches Terry Madden watercolor classes twice a month as well as classes in acrylic, airbrush, and various other techniques.
