Biography

I moved to Melbourne, FL in 2009 to be closer to my daughter and newest grandson. In doing so, I left my hometown of Buffalo, NY and knew that I would need to find new things to give myself purpose. I had never painted before but took a watercolor class and fell in love. It was something about have the gentle colors and how they flowed together that pulled me in. I continued taking classes and found that I enjoyed the people as much as the art.

I prefer realistic paintings, as of late, flowers have dominated most of my works. My grandchildren are another favorite subject of mine, I have done many portraits of them over the last 10 years. They are also my biggest critics and tend to like my animal paintings the best. I am thrilled when they ask for one and hang it in their room, it turns their space into a lifelike zoo. The Brevard Watercolor Society has become a big part of my life. I have been both treasurer and president of the society. I won a merit award in their 2019 Splash show, which is their annual art sale and display in February. The people I have met there are some of my best friends.

As an artist, I have also been working with pottery for over 10 years. We have a shared kiln right in the community in which I live. I have sold many pieces at a local nursery, making orchid pots and sconces. I try to design a new ornament every year and love working on fairy garden pieces. Clay reminds me of watercolors. When they are doing well it is so relaxing, but when they are not, I have learned to just walk away!
