Showers & Flowers

As the days grow longer, the Indialantic Chamber Singers are ready to celebrate springtime! The mixed-voice ensemble of auditioned singers will sing songs of the season in two Brevard locations during Showers & Flowers, beginning on Friday, May 2 at 7:00 PM, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 300 Malabar Road SE in Palm Bay. The 30-member singing group will reprise the performance in a second concert on Sunday, May 4 at 3:00 PM at Eastminster Presbyterian Church, located at the base of the Melbourne Causeway at 106 N. Riverside Drive in Indialantic. The audience will recognize many of the songs in Showers & Flowers, including “Over the Rainbow,” “Singin’ in the Rain,” “I Got Rhythm” and Toto’s “Africa.” Artistic Director Beth Green will conduct the group, with piano accompaniment by Teresa Fleenor. Additional instrumentation by bass guitar and percussion will punctuate the music. Youngsters from the Brevard Youth Chorus will join the concert to sing several selections and perform alongside the Chamber Singers for John Rutter’s “Look at the World” and an arrangement of “My Favorite Things,” with the ensemble’s women. The Youth Chorus selections will be accompanied by Amanda Avey. Friday’s concert will be followed by a free, on-site reception. Showers & Flowers is free of charge, with a suggested donation of $10 to $15. The organization is supported entirely by patron donations.
