Grow Your Own Food Seminar: Earth Day Edition
Join natural food forest gardener, Denise Crawley for an informative and engaging seminar discussing how to transform your landscape into a beautiful, low-maintenance and sustainable yard that benefits both you and the environment and take the first step towards creating a beautiful yard or garden that you can be proud of!
The impact on us & our environment
The way we manage our yards in Brevard County has a significant impact on the quality of the water we drink, the food we eat, and the air we breathe. So, if we want to have manicured lawns, beautiful landscapes and productive gardens, it’s pretty important that we maintain them in a way that doesn’t result in environmental damage.
Fortunately for us, plants do not need harmful chemicals or excessive human intervention to grow.
There are many simple, low-cost and natural gardening practices that yield healthy plants and an abundance of food, all while reducing the amount of pollutants that enter our waterways, and ultimately our bodies.
We will discuss:
– The fundamental concepts you need to know to be a successful gardener.- Practical, chemical-free and sustainable methods you can implement right now to naturally improve the health of your landscape and garden.- Different gardening styles and techniques and determine yours.- Best practices to overcome common gardening challenges.- How to utilize your resources and sustainable materials.- Natural and effective ways to manage pests – including mosquitoes and ants.- Watering – rain barrels, reducing water waste, saving on utility bills, and protecting our groundwater.- Simple routines and maintenance tips that will guarantee your success going forward.
This seminar includes a $5 off $10 or more Rockledge Gardens coupon that will be emailed to all attendees on the day of the event. Pre-registration is required. In honor of Erath Day, with every ticket, we will be donating $1 to the One Tree Planted organization where with every dollar plants one tree.
*Don’t forget about our gourmet Market! We offer a selection of local craft beers, natural wines, coffee, kombucha, and more that will be available for purchase in The Market. If you’re hungry, you can grab a bite to eat at Garden Party plant-based kitchen or Mad Utter homemade ice cream which are both located in The Market as well. You are welcome to bring drinks and food from The Market into this workshop or you can enjoy these items before or after. Thanks!
