Every Day is Veterans Day
One Senior Place, the Viera marketplace for senior resources, will present Every Day is Veterans Day, a special event for veterans and their families on Friday, February 27. The public is invited to the free patriotic gathering from 10 AM to 1:30 PM at 8085 Spyglass Hill Road in Viera, 32940. Refreshments, door prizes and information from numerous veteran and military organizations and sponsors will be available to attendees. The patriotic event will officially start with the Posting of the Colors, Pledge of Allegiance and the singing of the national anthem by Lt. Colonel Cynthia Watkins-Pishdad (U.S. Army, Ret.). Co-sponsored by VITAS Healthcare and Rhodes Law P.A., Every Day is Veterans Day will feature a keynote address by guest speaker will be Tom Landwermeyer, a retired U.S. Army Brigadier General. Tom served 33 years in the United States Army, including multiple leadership roles, and today serves as President and CEO of Homes for Our Troops, a national nonprofit that builds specially adapted custom homes for severely injured post-9/11 veterans. The Space Coast Highlanders Bagpipe & Drum Band will make their way through the assembled crowd and play several numbers. A highlight of Every Day is Veterans Day is expected to be a special pinning ceremony for U.S. military veterans of all eras. Luncheon will be catered by Palm Cottages Assisted Living and Memory Care. Attendees to the event are invited to wear red, white and blue in a show of patriotic solidarity.
