Cuban Mission Dinner
Most people don’t know much about Cuba — if they think about it at all. Suntree United Methodist Church wants to change that with a fundraising dinner for Methodist churches in Cuba at 6:00 PM on Friday, September 26 at the Suntree church located at 7400 N. Wickham Road in north Melbourne. For $25, attendees to the Cuban Mission Dinner can enjoy a meal of Cuban mojo pork, rice, beans, plantains, salad and dessert, prepared by Southern Accents BBQ. The keynote address will be delivered by Molly McEntire, Director of Connectional and Mission Ministries for the Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church. Ms. McEntire will discuss her work with the U.S. and Cuban churches, as well as the need for food, medicine and other basic needs of Cuban Methodists. McEntire will relate her own experience visiting a Cuban sister church as a 16-year-old, and convey the importance of continued partnership with the Cuba Methodist Church. Live guitar music will be provided during dinner. Doors open at 5:00 PM. Complimentary childcare is available for those who pre-register. Attendees are encouraged to bring unopened, unexpired over-the-counter medications, such as pain relievers, vitamins and gastric distress products.
