Scratchbord art is a subtractive, “reverse drawing” technique where artists use sharp tools to scratch off a thin layer of black ink or paint, revealing a white or colored clay base underneath. It is prized for creating highly detailed, realistic, and textured images—often in animal portraits by manipulating light rather than dark. This class is perfect for students with limited art experience, as well as any artists who have never tried Scratchbord! All supplies are furnished, and you should leave this workshop with a finished product.
Linda will provide information and step-by-step instruction and allow you time to practice before completing your masterpiece. Please bring an 8×10 photo (black and white preferred, but not essential) that you wish to use, or Linda can provide one for you.
Linda’s art can be viewed on her website, http://www.Lindakrupp.com, or by visiting the websites of the Downtown Art Gallery in Titusville and the Village Art Gallery in Cocoa.
