Ten Women in Art is a group of highly regarded professional artists whose mission is to promote and educate the public about the diversity in women's art through group exhibitions. Within the group of artists, a wide variety of ideas finds expression. One artist creates within the classical Greek tradition, contrasting vividly with anothers innovative use of space-age themes and materials. Mysticism and ritual of ancient cultures permeates the work of another. Others deal with environmental concerns, womens issues, psychological barriers and alienation. But it is their unwavering commitment to artistic excellence that binds the group together and produces a diverse and exciting presentation of contemporary fine art.
Ten Women has exhibited throughout the south in galleries, art centers, and museums, beginning in 1984. Current members are: Becky Beerensson; Marilyn Cook; Nancy Dillen; Lydia Friedland; Carol Garutti; Grace Leal; Susan Martin; Ellen Pavlakos; Nancy Seib; and Jean Thomas
