Description

Growing up in Jupiter, Florida exposed me to some of the most beautiful places in the state. From crystal clear ocean water to the dense mysterious swamps of the Loxahatchee River, I observed how nature and man coexisted. As my love for nature grew I also became more aware of the impact growth in our state and around the world affected these vast areas. From the condos and traffic to cypress and sandy beaches there was always an element of a delicate balance of man’s slow destruction of the environment.

I am a fan of many styles of Art, I referenced these styles in my art to form a dialogue of how and why modern civilization is affecting the thousands of years of evolution. I grew to love everything from Graffiti to the Highwaymen. Impressionism and expressionism also can be found in my work through brush strokes and the occasional “accident”. Aside from painting dramatic sunsets I also show the viewer telephone poles and trash that can be found in all reaches of the state. Old buildings that sit and crumble are framed by historic palms and native oaks, as if nature is slowly reclaiming. I paint old railroad bridges and show the graffiti that has given a modern light to the rust and decay of a once thriving industry, that is only a part of our day to day environment.

I graduated from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton and know first-hand that these were once beautiful areas that are overpopulated and trampled on. My work serves as an indicator of our growth and a reminder of the delicate balance we have to protect with nature and history.
