Biography

I began working with glass in 1978. I loved glass from the first day and still feel the same. In the beginning, I sold my work in sidewalk art shows and now sell my work from my studio on North Merritt Island; Brooke Pottery Gallery, Lakeland, FL, Art and Antique Studio in Eau Gallie, and 5th Avenue Gallery, Eau Gallie, My glass studio is downstairs from my home. Creating glass that is special to me and my client is very rewarding; I love to hear what my clients want and need. Glass is beautiful and functional.

I love glass and some of the reasons are……… 1. Finding the right color mixes and putting them together is my favorite! Like finding that special sheet of glass, knocks my socks off! 2. Working with textured clear glass and bevels 3. Painting on glass 4. Fusing and slumping, I just completed a bathroom sink and counter, under lit on a dimmer. Photos are on my website. 5. Designing from nature, especially fish and corals, where there are great opportunities to use unusual glass to recreate the amazing colors and textures found in the ocean realm. Fun! 6. Glass changes color with light (day to night, season to season) even the reflections make a new pattern of light and color, often abstract.

My two biggest installations are: 1. In Boca Raton at Gumbo Limbo Environmental Park, on A1A, I have installed 6 windows-6 feet tall and 3 feet wide that tell the story from an historical perspective of what the area was like in the 1500’s 2. Closer to home you can see a large wall of 36 windows at Resurrection Lutheran Church on Minuteman in Cocoa Beach. Jesus’ halo creates a reflection that moves with the sun. Prisms of light create multiple rainbows that move across the pews, in effect touching the people with light. My hobbies are glass, watercolors, fusing, making jewelry, photography, and biking with my husband, Peter and dog, Bertie. Making beautiful glass is about working! It’s a learning process. Finding out what you do right and wrong. LEARNING! If you do this you can become an Artist.
