Description
Janine is a native of Florida’s Space Coast. Having never lived far from the sea, her love of nature, the ocean and marine life is reflected in much of her work. She was raised by an artistic mother who instilled an appreciation for “the unconventional path” and beauty in her surroundings. Consequently, Janine has been creating art from a very young age.
She chose advertising, specializing in illustration when attending the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale. After ten years in the business and running her own shop, she transitioned into the Decorative Arts after being fascinated with Trompe l’oeil during a trip to Europe.
Her dream of creating beautiful works of art on canvas began gradually as a little spark of light-filled imagination. Currently, her work is inspired by water. With its countless moods and liquid expressions of energy, it can be calm and soothing or churning with savage violence. Janine is especially fascinated with the way light plays with water and reflects off of it. She works with the highest quality oil paints applying many translucent layers to achieve the amazing depth and feel that people have come to admire in her paintings.
