Museums of Brevard: Meet the MOB at the American Space Museum in Titusville

On Saturday, June 26th, American Space Museum will open its doors to the MOB–and you are invited!

“Welcome Summer: Meet the MOB!” is part of the monthly ASM “Celebration Series” and will be from 10 am-4 pm at the Titusville museum that preserves the birth of America’s space age. 

More than a dozen Museums of Brevard (MOB) will have representatives on hand to share their story and offer many choices for a local Summer “Staycation.” 

ASM patrons can visit the MOB tables, and then enjoy a panel discussion at 1pm anchored by Florida’s Space Coast Office of Tourism with some of the museum directors, including a Q&A from the audience. 

The day is all about supporting the hidden gems of Brevard County’s rich history.  The MOB event celebrates the historical preservation, the artifacts of the region and the unique history of exploration, nature and space.

“We are having a family MOB meeting to reach those curious about Brevard County’s exciting history,” said Mark Marquette, president of the MOB.  

 “This open house of MOB representatives is another step to get exposure for these fabulous, niche museums,” Marquette said, who is community liaison for ASM. “Each museum will tantalize the senses and give you a different perspective on what Brevard County is all about.”  

From big museums like Valiant Air Command Warbird, Veterans Memorial Center and American Police Hall of Fame to the Cape Canaveral Lighthouse, Museums of Dinosaurs and the Moore Cultural Center of civil rights, the MOB’s “family” is a broad cross section of the proud heritage of Brevard County. 

There are a half-dozen homes that united in 2020 to provide a holiday event despite the pandemic: Pritchard House, Rossetter House, Field Manor, Green Gables, Lawndale and Sams Homestead among them.  And they can tell you about the 2021 2nd annual “Historic Homes Christmas Tour!” 

 Other MOBsters are the Florida Surf Museum, Brevard Museum of History, Air Force Space & Missile Museum, Sands Space History Center, North Brevard Historical, Liberty Bell, Library of Florida History, Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge and American Space Museum.
