If you’re humming a tune from a favorite movie, the Melbourne Community Orchestra wants you to consider Hot Buttered Popcorn— the title for its March movie music concerts. Hot Buttered Popcorn will get cooking at 7:30 PM on Wednesday and Thursday evenings, March 9 and 10 at the Melbourne Auditorium. Admission is free, with no tickets required. Hot Buttered Popcorn starts with a rousing opener in “Salute to the Cinema,” featuring music from the Wizard of Oz and Casablanca, along with the iconic tune, “Hooray for Hollywood.” Other selections include music from Forrest Gump, Harry Potter, The Producers, and Stars Wars. Concert mistress, Sophia Hibner, will play one of John Williams most emotional compositions, from the movie, Schindler’s List. The audience will also hear a selection of show tunes, when the orchestra performs the “Impossible Dream” from Man of LaMancha, along with a musical medley from Annie Get Your Gun, Phantom of the Opera, A Chorus Line, and Gypsy. Doors open at 6:30 PM for best seating. Call 321-285-6724 or visit MCOrchestra.org for more information about Hot Buttered Popcorn or to sign up for concert alerts.
