3 Day Collage Workshop with Derek Gores

Join internationally acclaimed collage artist Derek Gores in his semi-secret studio, located in the Eau Gallie Arts District of Melbourne, FL, for a three-day workshop using recycled magazines and more. Derek will start with brief collage exercises to introduce you to the concepts of collage, as well as build your skills and understanding for a longer project on the second and third day. In this longer project, Derek will share his approach to his signature style. For this piece, Derek suggests a still life or single object as a subject, but don’t worry if you haven’t selected an idea before the class, Derek will help you find a worthy subject. Derek will assist you in opening your mind to the possibilities of new textures, meanings, and spatial depth in your work. He will demo and lead the discussion, which will include a touch of art history as a bonus!
