SUMMARY:Jazz Concert by Bassist Ron Pirtle & Friends
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an unforgettable afternoon of live jazz featuring “one of the most sought-after bassists in Brevard County,” according to Florida Today.\n\nRon’s band includes John Simon on piano, Paul Polanski on sax and Richie Mola drums.\n\nRon Pirtle’s musical journey began at age 12, when his parents placed an electric bass guitar in his hands. Growing up an Ohio farm boy, Ron teamed up with his brother—who played lead guitar—and together they formed a rock and roll band. His natural talent and dedication quickly made him a first-call bassist, performing throughout Ohio and neighboring Pennsylvania.\n\nRon’s musical path took a defining turn when he began working with a seasoned blues pianist. It was then that he discovered blues and jazz—and found his true voice on the upright acoustic bass. From that moment on, he devoted himself to mastering this great American art form.\n\nAfter marrying his high school sweetheart, Joyce, Ron moved to Florida in the 1980s, where he became a dynamic force in the Space Coast jazz scene. Today, he remains one of Central Florida’s most in-demand upright bassists—the musician other bandleaders call when they want depth, groove, and authenticity.\n\nRon leads his own ensemble, the Ron Pirtle Quintet, and has recorded the acclaimed CD Gettin’ in the Groove. He performs regularly at local venues and can be heard throughout Central Florida, bringing warmth, swing, and soul to every stage he graces.\n\nDon’t miss this opportunity to experience a master musician up close for an afternoon of rich rhythms, smooth grooves, and timeless jazz.\n\nGeneral admission is paid at the door. $30 for members of the Jazz Society and Brevard Veterans Memorial Center. $35 for guests and students are FREE. Bring your own food and drinks, Tables, chairs and a beautiful view of the river are provided.\n
