SUMMARY:Cape Canaveral Lighthouse Educational Tours
DESCRIPTION:The Cape Canaveral Space Force Station allows us to offer FREE tours designed for public, private, charter or home school students. Tours are available Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.  Wednesdays are available on a limited basis.  These tours require a minimum of 10 students and must be requested at least three weeks in advance.\nAll members of the group must provide identification to the Space Force at least 10 days prior to the tour, using our secure link.  Teachers, chaperones, bus drivers and any student over 17 must provide driver’s license number and social security number. Each minor must provide name and date of birth.\nUsing transportation provided by you, we will escort you on to the Space Force Station and to the lighthouse and back, starting at the Sands Space History Center.\nYou will first go to the Cape Canaveral Lighthouse, a long-standing icon of the area. Next to the lighthouse is a replica of the Lighthouse Keepers Cottage that originally stood in that location. It now houses a museum.  Located next to the lighthouse is Hangar C, built in 1953, and the oldest structure of its type on the Cape.  Inside, you will walk among restored launch systems and see the evolution of America’s early rocket and space programs.\nTo do this Lighthouse and Hangar C tour will take you 2 hours.\nA short drive from the lighthouse is an optional, unique opportunity to visit the Cape Canaveral Space Force Museum and Launch Complex 26, an original building of the early spaceflight missions. As you exit this venue you will take a ride through the Rocket Garden that is behind the museum. Also located at this venue is a picnic area should you care to bring lunch with you. No food is available for purchase on Station.\nThis optional venue will take an additional 45 minutes, without lunch.\nWhen the tour is complete, you will be escorted off the Station.  If you choose, you may visit the Sands Space History Center after this tour ends.\nThe materials we provide are designed to meet the 4th grade Sunshine State Standards but are of interest to all age groups.\nPlease complete your tour request as soon as possible since requests must be received at least 3 weeks prior and dates fill up fast.\n
