SUMMARY:Beginning Pottery Class: Hand Built Techniques
DESCRIPTION:The Studios of Cocoa Beach is hosting a Beginning Handbuilt Pottery class on Friday, June 9 from 6:30 to 9:00 pm. Whether you’ve always wanted to try making clay pottery or you need a refresher course, this class is for you!\nInstructor Glaucia Romano will guide you as you learn the basics of hand-building with clay by using slabs, coils, or pinch-pot techniques, discover how to use a variety of tools and molds, and how to add texture. Work at your own pace and at your own level! You are encouraged to bring pictures or sketches to work from, but there will be resources and suggestions to inspire you.\nGlaucia has a Masters in Art Education and is a certified Art Educator in the state of Florida. She has taught art classes for at least 15 years in the public and private sectors, mostly to kids, but also to adults. She has a wide knowledge of a variety of media and processes and can’t wait to share them with you!\nFee for the class is $75 which includes clay and equipment. After class the artwork will be fired and returned to the student. If you’d like to glaze your work, you may schedule a time with the instructor to apply the glaze for an additional $20 which includes materials and a second firing.\nRegister at the Studios website: www.studiosofcocoabeach.org. The Studios’ workshop room is behind the gallery at 165 Minutemen Causeway in downtown Cocoa Beach. The gallery is open Mondays 9 am to 2 pm, Tuesday to Saturday 9 am to 7 pm and Sundays 1 to 6 pm.
