Best known for his ripped paper collage portraits, Derek recycles magazine pages, labels, and found materials to create the works on canvas. A successful commercial designer and illustrator for 15 years, clients include ESPN, Lenny Kravitz, Lucasfilm, Kings of Leon, U2, Harley Davidson, the NFL, and Love Haight Apparel.

"I like my pictures to barely come together with teasing little details. I used to be 'in control' all the time. Now I trust and CRAVE randomness and intuition. I'm not interested in heavy concepts- I make something simple and let the parts combine in the head, reacting with any memories the viewer brings to the table."

A recent honor: Derek was featured in the Manifest Hope DC exhibit prior to the Presidential Inauguration. Derek and 321 Agency also produce art events, like the spectacular FINE LINE and ROBOT LOVE shows of the past two years. Recent and upcoming shows are in Asbury Park, Miami, Washington DC and Melbourne, FL.
