Ruth M. Marquart
Ruth Marquart was born in London, Ontario, Canada and came to the United States on an international Scholarship to study art. She has won awards ranging from oil paintings, design of bread wrappers to fashion design. Recently winning first prize in Cocoa , Florida for a painting of her Saxy Saxophone and then a T-shirt award utilizing the same painting. She has also won another award for a painting of the Cocoa Village Jazz Group. During Marquart's career, she worked as advertising and sales promotion manager for a subsidiary of K-Mart. Then eventually received a degree in interior design and worked on the corporate staff of the J.L. Hudson Co., in Detroit, Michigan, teaching interior design. Throughout her career Ruth has worked at various levels of management utilizing her graphic arts and interior design training which included space planning for training centers at Chrysler Corporation in Michigan. At the present time, Marquart's enjoying retirement in Melbourne, Florida and lives with her husband Harold and their toy poodle, Ruby-Red. Her leisure time is spent working in oil, painting local musical entertainers. Yet, still has an active interest in interior design and graphic arts. Marquart feels that art in various forms is her philosophy... greatest love and most of all ... her legacy of existence, on this small planet called Earth.
