Anthony L. Guidone

Art Specialty: Visual Art, Photography

Photographer Anthony Guidone

Anthony Guidone's goal for his photography is "to record a view of life as it passes from one generation to another."  When Guidone spoke of his work, he said, "In a changing world, I am compelled by the importance of preserving events - natural and unnatural - that make a difference and give substance to our lives."  What sets Giudone's photography apart from others is that he has made the transition from photojournalism to fine art photography.

Guidone started at the New York School of Printing.  It was the only high school in the nation designed to teach students the skills needed for the print industry.  At school, he learned typesetting, page layout, graphic design, personalities of type, and nomenclature of design.   He learned everything about print except photography itself.  From there, he worked in various print shops in New York City, but that lasted for less than a year.

Guidone joined the United States Marine Corps and was assigned to a printing/photography unit.  Those four years of concentrated photography work prepared him for life after discharge.  He was soon hired by an ad agency and worked for them for 27 years on the creative side of advertising and marketing.  During that time he devoted his spare time to freelance photojournalism.  Upon retirement Guidone moved to New Hampshire but after three years was recruited by another ad agency and relocated to North Miami Beach.  A few years later he moved to Palm Bay and in 1989 bought Republic Title Company.

Since moving to Palm Bay Guidone has been involved in many art shows, art festivals, and arts organizations.  His passion is depicting the raw artistic clarity of various cultures and heritages, especially that of South America.

Guidone summed up his photography well when he said, "Be it the beauty of a flower, the cultural differences  of people (their joys and their sorrows), the ugliness of war, the misery of poverty, or the lushness of nature, the goal of my photography is to record a point of view of life as it passes from one generation to another."
