Ron Winarski

Art Specialty: Visual Art, Sculptor, Computer

Man plays by Nature's rules, and Art is man's attempt ot imitate her beauty. Growing up on the American shores of Lake Erie with interests in fishing and boating, he has always liked living near the water. After spending 15 years producing graphic design in the Midwest, he was excited to move to coastal Florida in 1996. Combined with his art & design education, the presence of the nearby Atlantic Ocean and Indian river Lagoon sparked this creative effort. He is delighted that others share his enthusiasm for this work. Winarski first read this quote in the DaVinci Code novel by Dan Brown and it appealed to him right away. He has always felt that way about artwork, it just took someone elses words to express the sentiment properly. Winarski's style of sculpture consists of creating life-size marine animals by combining dozens of pieces of Florida driftwood. The driftwood pieces are combined to create dynamic portrayals of the size, power and beauty of the animal depicted. The organic planes and lines of the driftwood bestow an energy and movement to these sculptures befitting their nature. Some of the pieces look like large, three-dimensional sketches. The driftwood also reinforces the connection of these animals to their environment, and when stained and sealed, provides a rich textured wood finish. Metallic finishes such as antique copper, oxidized bronzed and antique pewter, may also be applied to add visual interest. The subject matter consists of animals native to Florida and her water, powerful reminders of the natural environment here, that we sometimes take for granted. His goal is to give viewers a strong presence of these rarely seen animals.
