Lolly Walton

Art Specialty: Visual Art, Watercolor

You've heard that old phrase, when I retire, I'm just going to lie around and sun myself. Well that's what Lolly Walton said, four years ago when she retired to Melbourne from Miami, Florida. Encouraged by a friend, Lolly began her art journey with watercolor lessons at Miami Dade Community College and Fairchild Gardens. After retirement, she moved to Brevard County where she discovered she was surrounded with a plethora of artistic talent. She joined Strawbridge Art League and the Brevard Watercolor Society. Both clubs had lots to offer the newcomer. She continued to improve her skills by taking lessons with local artists, Therese Ferguson, Linda Neal and Carole Wilen. Just when Lolly thought it was time to just paint and paint and more paint, she offered her administrative skills to the local art leagues and now finds herself entering shows, in a gallery, doing street art shows and of all things, President of the Brevard Watercolor Society. Lolly now states, It has been an exciting retirement so far. I'm doing something I really enjoy. I enjoy being in the Art & Antique Studio and Gallery surrounded by artist of all types, and being part of the Gallery Walk the first Friday's of each month. Perhaps the historical Eau Gallie area will evolve into a true art district. It has also been rewarding to be part of the Brevard Watercolor Society, with its current membership of about 250 members enjoying the venues offered; such as workshops, bus trips, paint-ins and more, not to mention the friendships along the way. In summary, Lolly states, you should, and can plan for retirement, but it may not be what you expected. Lolly has found her niche - watercolor/art and all it has to offer. DESCRIPTION OF WORK - Watercolor My artwork is constantly evolving. I started out painting a variety of subjects and now I am concentrating on subjects with a lot of texture. I love to add texture to my paintings giving them added depth and dimension. Each workshop opens new avenues and ways of handling these techniques.
