Lisa Miller-Cambria
As a young child Cambria watched a talented artist, Edward Bergman, paint a mural on their dining room wall. She sat on a barstool as he effortlessly made the scene a reality before her eyes. He was very kind and answered her endless questions. Soon Cambria was painting her own murals. While attending Eau Gallie High School, under the tutelage of artist Yvonne Mellard-Weinstein, she painted her first oil on canvas. She will admit, it was awful. With Weinstein's guidance and teaching her the basics of color mixing and shadowing, Cambria's second attempt at painting was an improvement. Locally, she was commissioned to paint a 300 square foot mural over the dance floor of a local country music line dance club. The owners opening a Latin nightclub next door saw her work and commissioned her to paint Flamenco Dancers on their front windows. Cambria was instructed by Joyce Schumacher and since that time has completed more than 24 oil paintings, some of which are now part of a private collection. She is constantly seeking innovative ways to depict a certain message or idea in design and color. Painting is the most effective way to release ideas and a means to convey my thoughts, she said. Cambria is currently an employee of Transportation Security Administration, a division of Homeland Security, at Melbourne International Airport.
