SIRI LYNN GERMAN
Award-winning artist Siri Lynn German has been creating her mixed media artwork since the millennium of 2000. German uses plastic and ceramic tiles, wood slabs, Frisbees, mouse pads, place mats, pizza rounds, even her old bread box surfaces as backdrops for her work. She occasionally does abstract pen and ink drawings on canvas that focus on boating life.
German is a Connecticut transplant and has lived in Melbourne since 1990. She’s a free-lance writer who writes feature stories for Spacecoast Living magazine and also writes poetry and short stories.
Collecting her flotsam and jetsam is half the fun. “On a perfect day at Paradise Beach in Indialantic, I can sit ashore and catch a treasure trove of shells in the cup of my hand as the waves throw them to me. Other days I have to dig in the sand like a dog. I also moor my boat at the spoil islands across from Malabar and Palm Bay. I swim ashore and collect one-of-a-kind fossilized wonders! I return to the boat full of lumps, excited as an archaeologist!”
German’s latest work is altered photography. “I took pictures on my yearly vacation to Norway and decided to fool around with them on the computer. To my delight I was able to create totally new exciting photos!”
