He has earned a BFA in Design from Carnegie Mellon University in 1998.

Since then he has pursued a career in both Boat Design, Product Design and Art.

His pursuits have led him to design wineglasses for Williams-Sonoma, an award-winning Genie vacuum cleaner, numerous boat and yacht designs for Silverton Yachts, Sea Ray Boats and a number of other prominent companies.  He has been a Drawing and Design Instructor for Prestigious Universities and Colleges such as Carnegie Mellon, and Georgia Tech.

Recently he has opened his own consulting company, Rhoads Design Studio LLC., located in Rocklegde and work sfull time as a designer and artist as well as starting Caricatures by Ryan - an art entertainment company specializing in digital caricatures from photos, Digital Caricatures for Special Events and Trade Shows as well as traditional caricatures for all types of events and parties.
