Jeanne Weaver
Jeanne’s happy memories of growing up in Cocoa Beach followed her on travels to other warm climates. In the 1970s she left for Tanzania and her first tour as a Foreign Service spouse. She would go on to raise four children in eight countries, most of them in Africa. Throughout these adventures, Jeanne found time to pursue a lifelong passion for painting, a practice that began when she was a college student at Florida Atlantic University and which has now blossomed into a full-time career. For several years she co-owned and managed a major art gallery in Tidewater Virginia. Her work has been exhibited at the United States Department of State, Washington, DC, the American Embassy in Bangladesh, and in many galleries throughout the American
Southeast particularly in Virginia, and Brevard County. An award winning artist, Jeanne has built a reputation for work that expresses the emotional heart of a place through creative compositions, strong brush strokes, and a simple palette of colors. “In her series of gouache studies and large scale oil paintings of Florida landscapes, she
captures the character of this part of the world with subtle color and value, the feeling of light at different times of the day and a strong design sense,” says renowned realist painter James Warwick Jones. Jeanne’s art reflects her love for the ocean and community that has finally lured her back to stay, easel in tow.
