Harbor City Harmonizers - Barbershop Harmony Society

The Harbor City Harmonizers, under the direction of Gretchen Lux, is a men's acapella chorus from the Melbourne Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society. We perform publicly as a chorus. The Harbor City Harmonizers has several quartets, as well as the entire chorus, available to perform at various functions in and around Brevard County and Vero Beach, Florida, both as a community service and for a fee at private gatherings. Harmonizer Highlights:

* The Harmonizers are proud to welcome Gretchen Lux as our new director taking over from Lewis Law who moved to the Dallas, Texas area. Gretchen comes to us with a vast amount of musical experience and knowledge. She is new to Barbershop but is catching on with every rehearsal. Gretchen has appeared as vocalist and soloist with the United States Navy Band, Washington, D.C., and its 18-voice ensemble, the Sea Chanters Chorus. Among other things, she is currently serving as Music Director at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Melbourne Beach. Welcome Gretchen! You are amazing.

* Chartered in 1990, with over 50 members and ages typically ranging from 14 to 70+

* The Harmonizers stress musical excellence and enjoy great fellowship and family involvement

* Each year the Chorus puts on an Annual Spring Spectacular Show and a Christmas Sounds of the Season Show

* This past year the Harmonizers held its annual Spring show at the Florida Tech Auditorium and entertained an enthusiastic afternoon and evening audience

* In 2003 the Harmonizers presented their first Christmas Concert which met with great success. Subsequent Christmas shows have received even greater audience response.

* In District competition the Melbourne Chapter is steadily improving its ranking among other choruses and now competes in the AA Division, most recently ranked #2 in that division.

* The Melbourne Chapter is a non-profit organization which supports local and national charities.

*In 2011, we have been featured at the Washington Nationals Spring Training baseball games and Brevard County Manatees baseball games, throughout the summer, singing the National Anthem, God Bless America and Take Me Out To The Ball Game.
