Sara Pedigo was the Best of Show winner of last year's 100% Pure Florida Juried Exhibition. Her solo exhibition, "Leave the Screendoor Open" opened on June 3rd. Her artwork explores the notion, that the very nature of painting is based, to some extent, in the creation of fictional realities. She interperts her family history and the southern environment through these painting. The exhibit will be on display through July 30th. Rhonda Ervin, from Orlando Examiner reviews Sara Pedigo's exhibit, "Leave the Screendoor Open" at the Fifth Avenue Art Gallery.
Pedigo calls her painting “figurative realism,” and she combines crystal clear moments with “malerisch” strokes that lack definition, leading us into a web of generational connection, versus linear path. Her painting, “Backyard Shade,” is probably the finest example of this evocation. The figures could be from any of several time periods with the feel of “old Florida,” interplay between generations, and corners of activity that both connect to others and stand alone. more of the interview

Jini James
"I can't remember a time when I did not make art. I have always found joy in those moments when all track of time is lost and mind and hand move seemingly as one. If life informs art, it was my years in nursing that honed my ability to read hidden stories in faces full of character and, consequently, fueled my desire to share these vignettes in paint. I move easily from pencil and watercolors, which lend themselves to realism, to pastel and oil, which showcase my love of impressionism."

Rene Griffith "Mostly self-taught, I’m a photographer with the soul of a painter. To me, it is more important to reflect a mood or feeling than to capture photographic detail. Polaroid films allowed me to do that. I often photograph old cars, bicycles, and vintage memorabilia because I like things that have character and history, and have a story to tell. I want my photographs to bring back memories and to evoke emotions in the people who view them."

Lisa Mistiuk In her early 20s Lisa Mistiuk began her serious study of art in Germany. During this time she worked closely with several artists and professors developing her figure drawing skills. In 2004 she received a portfolio scholarship in Amsterdam to study art at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. Upon returning to her native California she began her studies at the Academy where she focused on oil painting, receiving her BFA in 2009.
Lisa paints primarily in oils with an emphasis on the elements that make up our everyday lives. She has participated in various group and solo shows in the San Francisco Bay Area and is pleased to have her work collected and commissioned internationally.

Joel Johnson
"My current work reveals my interest in reflective surfaces, especially water, along with artistic concerns for textures and local color. My paintings attempt to visualize the impact that light has on form in regards to weight, volume, value, texture and color. Light and shadow patterns are also used as a means of designing space-shape relationships in the compositional strategies employed in my formats."
