Description

Dij Pacarro has been working with textiles and fibers most of her life. She took a quilt class in the 1990's and found her true passion. Beginning with traditional patterns, she soon branched out into her own designs and methods. Dij is enthusiastic about her medium. In her own words: "Fiber provides a way for me to express myself artistically - I enjoy 'painting' with fabric and thread. I gravitate toward bright colors and am influenced by my love of nature and travel. I work with small bits of different fabrics to create dimension, fusing them in place and adding lots of stitching to give life and texture to each piece. It's labor intensive, but time flies as I lose myself in the joy of creating."

Dij grew up in Hawaii, moved to California, then to Florida, where she's been living in Brevard County with her husband, Rudy, since 2001. She says "I guess I just keep heading east - but always where there's lots of sun. I think that tropical warmth is reflected in my art."

Dij has displayed her award winning work in galleries, quilt shows, and libraries throughout Brevard, and has taught extensively throughout Brevard County and beyond. She is a member of Seaside Piecemakers Quilt Group, Studio Art Quilt Associates, and Dirty Dozen Fiber Artists. She was also a member of Art Gallery of Viera for 8 years, just recently retiring to “play more.” Contact Info: quilterdij@gmail.com www.quilterdij.etsy.com
