Biography

Lynda Kodwyck specializes in plein air work and enjoys painting portraits and figurative studies as well as still lifes in her studio. Formerly a watercolorist specializing in florals and portraits, Lynda began concentrating in working first with acrylics in 2001 then moved back to her favorite medium as a student, oils. Now she paints almost exclusively in oils and water-based oils.

Lynda recently (2012) moved to Florida with her husband and is currently familiarizing herself with Florida’s plein air, portrait, and figurative painting opportunities. While living in New Hampshire she could be found painting anywhere in the Massachusetts, New Hampshire, or Maine seacoast areas. She has also had the great pleasure of creating art in Provence, Venice, Lubec, Campobello Island, Canada, and New Orleans.

Painting almost exclusively from life, Kodwyck’s interpretations of people, places, and objects are uniquely bold, colorful, and light-filled and are built upon the “solid bones” of a skilled draftsman. She exhibited in northern New England juried shows and galleries while living in New Hampshire and she is now looking forward to showing her work in Florida while maintaining exhibiting relationships in northern New England. Her paintings and murals (moveable and permanent) can be found in numerous homes throughout the Eastern United States.
