Biography

My name is Julie Lamoureux Arthurs; I was born in Sacramento California December 29th 1964. My parents Joan and Don Lamoureux moved us to Cocoa Beach Florida in 1967 for jobs with the space program. My mother was a well-known, self-taught Batik Artist. I learned a lot about art and art shows from my mother, she was also very talented in other mediums along with drawing, oils and acrylics so to say the least I was raised in the Art community going to art shows Up and down the east coast.

As a young girl I was introduced to showing my art work and won blue ribbons with my Batik paintings at the Cocoa Beach art show. Later in High School I took up acrylic painting and enjoyed it very much. I’ve always felt at home when I’m doing art. After I finished cosmetology school I married and had four amazing children all born at Cape Canaveral Hospital, Joscelyn, Blaine, Chelsea and Monica Greenwell. As they grew up and left home I was introduced to my watercolor teacher Susan Stone by my dear friend since childhood Nancy Hickman and I have and am learning so much about water color from Susan. My teacher, Susan, my friend Nancy, and my very talented husband Rich Arthurs who built a studio for me at our home in Merritt Island.

All inspire and encourage me daily along with my children. Watercolor has truly become my passion and I aspire to learn more. My job as a hairstylist is also another passion for me. I have been doing hair for 30 years and I am now working for myself, so I can devote my free time to my art along with some playtime with my 1 year old grandson Maddox Greenwell. I thought all of that talent over time went away never to return, but I am pleasantly surprised at myself that it was just waiting for me.
