Biography

Dennis was born in Toronto Canada and migrated to the US in 1960. He attended the University of Michigan where he received his Architectural degree and went on to the University of Pennsylvania for Master degrees in Architecture and City Planning. After a career in Architecture it wasn't until his early sixties that Dennis began to pursue his lifelong dream to paint. He enrolled in Studio Incamminati in Philadelphia where he studied under world renowned portrait artist Nelson Chanks for four years.

Dennis' passions are painting portraits from life, landscapes, and streetscapes en plein aire. His sketch portraits are lively and colorful and are done in two or three sittings. Dennis has been told that he is not only able to develop an uncanny likeness but also captures the mood and personality of the sitter. Dennis and his wife Linda spend winters in Cocoa, Florida and spring and fall in Nantucket where he exhibits his work. He is a member of the Artists Association of Nantucket where he recently received the Robert C. McDougall award for most promising new artist.
