Biography
Originally a native of Elmira New York, with a degree in advertising, Damien has been in Florida since 1989 and began painting full time in 1999. It was through the sport of surfing and his previous occupation as a lifeguard for 15 years that Damien started to focus on creating work themed on the ocean that he loves so much. He said that Brevard County and Melbourne Beach has influenced most of his creations as well as traveling along the eastern seaboard, and traveling to exotic places such as Costa Rica and Hawaii. His art revels in the beauty of natural surroundings and his love for marine wildlife. Damien has expanded his art to include commissioned and reproduction work with local businesses and art collectors. He paints to inspire and to communicate all that is beautiful both physically and spiritually in sea and life. His body of works can be described as realism with a twist of surrealism.
