Biography
Elizabeth Rose Scholder, BFA Illustration, and MS Art Education, Syracuse University, moved to Cocoa Beach in September 2013, where she can be near her elderly parents, and work as an artist after 20 years as a high school art teacher and an adjunct college painting professor in northern Virginia. “Liz” works as a professional artist, taking on commissions for murals and portraits, and selling paintings through juried exhibitions. Her forte is large scale figurative oil painting, mostly realistic, a little impressionistic. She also sculpts freehand in ceramics—one of her most interesting pieces is a chess set of Medieval –like characters with tops that can serve as candle holders or cordial cups. Lately, she has been creating watercolors plein air.
Her most recent significant professional work was the graphic design and illustration of How to Live LONGEST, HEALTHIEST, LEANEST, Without Expensive Drugs and Medications, Hartenstein, Roy, 2006. She also provided over 90 illustrations for Break It Up, Research Press Inc., Champaign, IL., 1995. Additionally, she has been commissioned to illustrate many homes, portraits, and murals since 1990. Liz has work on display throughout New England, Canada, and Virginia.
