Biography

I love different shapes and odd items, and I see colors everywhere I look. I dressed for color and different patterns growing up. The walls in my first home were outstanding oranges and yellows, but I had to “tone down” on the outside when I started a law practice. After 40 years as an attorney in Miami, where I was born and raised, my husband and I moved to beautiful Brevard. A good friend and wonderful local artist encouraged me to try watercolor painting, even through I had never had an art or drawing lesson… in fact, never in my life had even held an artist’s paintbrush. I was enthralled with the process of learning something new and alien. I loved playing with the colors and knew that I wanted to create paintings that are bright and lively, a little offbeat, and uncommon.

I have been interested in photography since I was a child, and have been taking pictures for many years with no thought to anything but preserving scenes and things of interest to me. I have now put this interest to use in painting from my photographs… some of which have been taken in travels to foreign lands, e.g. masks from Venice, Thai Buddahs, Russian nesting dolls, head coverings for sale at a Moroccan souk. My deep feeling for nature has also inspired paintings of Florida birds and scenes from Viera wetlands, Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge, and my own backyard. I am a member of the Brevard Cultural Alliance, Florida Watercolor Society, Strawbridge Art League, Brevard Watercolor Society, Central Brevard Art Association, and Brevard Camera Club. A number of my paintings are in the Highland Art Gallery. I have had paintings and photographs accepted for judging in several competitions, and paintings on display at the Cocoa and Suntree/Viera libraries.
