Biography
Witha Lacuesta was encouraged by her father from an early age to paint and draw. Regular visits to art museums in Europe and the United States built a solid foundation in art history and familiarity with famous artists, their philosophy and techniques. She has always been fascinated by watercolor with their transparent quality and the possibilities they offer when applying them. Watercolor still holds surprises and new discoveries.
Through them Lacuesta likes to express her feelings and emotions when painting certain objects like flowers, animals, and landscapes. She develops quite a different attitude when working with oils, concentrating on the play of light that is either shining on the subject or reflecting off it. At this time Lacuesta is trying to capture the beauty of the world around us and interpret it according to her feelings and sense of being. She would like to see her paintings provide viewers with a center in their realm where they can reflect and find peace.
Lacuesta had exhibited in Europe and the United States and has studied at various colleges in Germany, and in the United States. She continues to attend workshops and private lessons in Florida. She is currently a member of the Brevard Watercolor Society, Florida Watercolor Society, Vero Beach Art Club, and Frankfurter Kuenstlerclub e. V., Germany.
