Artist Statement The sculptural process is a path of discovery. As I research a subject and begin, my process translates into a study of form, light, motion, and gesture that guides my progress. My conceptions of animals and figures are undoubtedly influenced by my study of historical precedents including Egyptian and Greek sculpture. The physical aspect of manipulating clay is also an elemental struggle that competes with my intent at the outset of a project. In other words, the actual relationship of the object I am working on to my body is a humbling element that keeps the sculptural process alive.
