For more than three decades, Spyro Gyra has maintained a position at the forefront of modern jazz by successfully managing not just one, but several feats of creative dexterity. Improvising in front of a crowd is much like walking down a wire, according to the band. Hence, the title of their latest album, “Down the Wire,” which includes semi-funky tracks, more laid-back numbers and a few surprises from guest musicians. Join Spyro Gyra at the King Center for an evening of jazz, featuring songs from “Down the Wire” and many others from the group’s long and prolific career.
