Description:
FIRST FRIDAY ART WALK -
A Star Spangled Evening JULY 3rd 4:00-9:00 PM
EGAD invites you to a special celebration of art, music and food, featuring unique galleries and shops with live music on the street.
Get mellow with jazz in the Brevard Art Museum – or get jazzed up by their current shows: “Take Out” – the humble Chinese take-out box used to create amazing and diverse art, and “From Gutter to Gallery” - a fresh and challenging look at graffiti.
EGAD’s local art galleries have tasty refreshments and new exhibits. Highway Grrls Gallery challenges local artists to paint, draw or sculpt Uncle Sam. Vote for your favorite winner to be announced at 8:30 pm. The Uncle Sams will be for sale - look for some “big name” participation!
Also, a book signing at Eau Gallie Florist features local arts veteran Lloyd Behrendt.
The Brevard Symphony Orchestra presents a music “petting zoo” and enjoy a free concert in the park by the brass quintet Constellation.
A Patriotic Window Painting Contest open to all ages, allowing artists to paint their interpretation of America. Sign up via email or on the day of the event at the table in front of Art Supply of Melbourne, beginning at noon. Windows are assigned and paints and brushes are supplied.
The EGAD Apple Pie Bake Off will find the Best Tasting Pie, and the Most Artistic Crust. (All apple pies must be delivered to Eau Gallie Florist, 1490 Highland Avenue between noon and 3 pm on July 3rd and must be marked with your name and phone number of the baker on the BOTTOM of the pie plate). Winners announced at 8 pm.
The Human Flag - 200 "flag makers" will fill the street as a human flag. Assembly begins at 7 pm in front of the Brevard Art Museum. There are no special physical requirements except to wait for the photo op! Bring a friend or make a new one - flag seating is bound to be patriotically cozy.
Human Flag participation, window painting contest and pie competition have on line registration via email or same day registration is available.
Highland Avenue will close to vehicle traffic from Montreal to St. Clair between 3 pm and 11 pm. For more information call event coordinator Tina Suiter, 321-698-0371.
