Terry Cattee

Florida gives life to the most astounding flora, delicate in appearance yet strong and able to endure the ages. It is this place of contradictions that Terry Lee Cattee was raised, a life-long resident of Brevard County.

It was a perfect marriage as Terry embraced the land, the ocean, the people. His organic garden, beehives, ornamental foliage nursery and commercial fishing strengthened his courtship with the Florida habitats.

It is no wonder Terry’s art work is infused with the natural beauty of his surroundings, flowing vines, graceful blooms, colors and tones that speak the language of the land. His attention to detail arises from his constant awareness and sensitivity to an environment the he refused to touch but rather allows to touch him. Terry’s creative intuition is powered by a life filled with horticultural involvement. Exhaustive interaction with every facet of plant life, coupled with his tendency toward the abstract, permeate Terry’s art, making it his own totally unique creation. From the tiniest stem on a collection of leaves to the delicate arc of the leaf itself, no aspect of his sculpting is arbitrary. Every shape has been formed wit purpose, contemplatively, and can stand alone just as powerfully as it lends itself to the whole.

Terry continues to expands his horizons, unleashing his creativity to encompass all aspects of his ceramic art, integrating and infusing his passion in all living spaces.
